EEG

Electroencephalography (EEG) is the non-invasive technology that records the brain's spontaneous electrical activity (brain waves) to assess neurological function.

EEG is your direct line to cortical function, tracking the electrical signals generated by millions of neurons. The process is straightforward: a technician places small metal electrodes (often around 20) on the scalp, which record the voltage fluctuations in millisecond resolution. This data is critical for diagnosing and managing conditions like epilepsy, where characteristic spike-and-wave patterns confirm seizure activity. Beyond epilepsy, EEG is essential for evaluating sleep disorders, confirming brain death, and localizing tumors, offering a painless, high-temporal-resolution view of the brain in action.
