Amazon Kinesis Data Streams
Amazon Kinesis Data Streams is a serverless, real-time data streaming service that captures gigabytes of data per second from hundreds of thousands of sources.
Kinesis Data Streams handles massive data ingestion at scale (think millions of events per minute from IoT sensors, clickstreams, or financial transactions). It provides sub-second latency for downstream consumers like AWS Lambda, Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics, or custom applications running on EC2. Operators can choose between an On-Demand mode for automatic scaling or a Provisioned mode for predictable workloads (offering up to 1 GB/s of ingress per stream). With built-in data replication across three Availability Zones and a default retention period of 24 hours (extendable to 365 days), it ensures high durability and replayability for critical streaming pipelines.
